The joys of being a mother!

If you've ever had children, then I'm sure you can relate.

Those cute little drooling bundles of pure joy are so much more than just that. I'm not quite sure exactly what you would call them, but they are so much more. When you're changing a toddlers poop diaper that smells so awful that you almost gag or that gorgeous little newborn has a lovely explosion in her diaper that goes all the way up her back to the back of her neck, it's just hard for me to believe they are only joy. At those moments they are more like little minions from your past sent to punish you for all your wrong doings in the most disgusting ways possible!

When the diaper smells so bad that the 16 month old says "ewww" when you open it... you know that's when you've hit the mother load. That is the moment when you realize all of those little fantasies of what being a parent is are all just that, a fantasy... When you truly realize that the way Hollywood moms portray motherhood in the media is just another acting gig for them. Now don't get me wrong, I LOVE being a mother more than anything else in this world. My children are absolutely the most important thing in my life and even when I am changing that explosive diaper or cleaning up puke, I love what I do. It's just not that glamorous, beautiful picture of perfection like it's often portrayed as.

I see so many teenagers and even girls in their early 20's talk about how they want babies because they are so cute. They aren't puppies! I wont even get started on people getting puppies just because they are cute, because that's a whole other rant in itself! Babies are hard work. They are not dolls that you can put away when you're bored with them or when you want to get some sleep. That is quickly realized when that newborn baby is screaming to eat and is covered in poop and spit up at 2am.

I just fed my 4 bundles of messy boy goodness their lunch. The older 3 had turkey sandwiches with fruit on the side and I watched them quickly drop bread crumbs all over the kitchen table and floor that I had just freshly cleaned only an hour before lunch. My children are the loves of my life and they are also the providers of never ending work for me to do. They drive me crazy and make me tired, but I love the little stinkers more than I thought could ever love anyone.
